How did I become interested in Veterinary Chiropractic?
I became interested in veterinary chiropractic technique when my own horse was suddenly not herself. She stopped stretching in the pasture like normal, and she would carry her head about a foot lower. In the saddle, she was just not the same. I found someone to come and work on her and the difference was amazing! Within a day after the adjustment, she was stretching again; her head was back up, and she was more collected under saddle. Here was a type of healing for animals that was remarkably effective and yet, I knew very little about it.
The solution: Options for Animals in Kansas provides an animal chiropractic course available only to veterinarians or chiropractors. It is a 5 week intensive course separated into 5 modules. The total coursework involves over 200 hours of study. At the end of the class, students must pass a final exam and also must pass a separate exam with the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association to become certified. I took the course and I am excited to bring this option for care to the animals of the Yakima Valley.
